Esméralda
The Great Chamberlain |
|
A little girl walked up to him in a street in Bangkok: Esmeralda was bought from her parents. She lived in a small village, in the mountains. At home, the girls were of no importance, because they did not bring in any money. So, they are abandoned at birth, or sold later. A man had bought her, and now, it is she who has to sell herself to bring in money for this man. When she does not earn enough money, she is beaten or locked in solitary confinement.
The Great Chamberlain takes her small hand. He does not go to the small room, but pulls her into a ray of light, to a better heaven. |
