He distributes rings, provides each child with his own ring, the seal bearing the initial of his first name.
First, the Nameless Girl. But no letter, no initial. She questions the Great Chamberlain with her eyes, but does not dare ask him the question which burns her lips.
He smiles gently and turns to Leonid without any explanation.
When Esmeralda looks at her ring topped with an E... the initial is reversed, as if
we read in a mirror.
Naomi receives the ring in turn.

The Great Chamberlain takes a candle, makes a drop of wax fall onto the bottom of the parchment and each child affixes his initials with the seal of his ring:

Then Henrique, Ibrahim, Leonid, Domingo, Roberto, Ester ... Naomi and finally the sign.
When all members of the community have finally affixed their seals, we can read:
